Identifier Registration
Create unique prefix/suffix IDs, prevent duplicates, and support batch registration workflows.
The Metascholar Digital Object Infrastructure (MDOI) Foundation is a globally aligned, Non-Profit Authority for persistent digital identification, built on a security-first architecture and aligned withISO/IEC 27001 to ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of all registered data.

Trusted resolution, rich metadata management, and governance workflows for institutions and individual registrants.
Resolve links in milliseconds with high uptime, redirect reliability, and mirror target support.
Update and extend records freely across all content categories. The identifier never changes.
Role-based access and full audit logging — institutions and registrants always operate within clear boundaries.
Metascholar Digital Object Infrastructure (MDOI) Foundation is an independent persistent identifier and metadata infrastructure designed to support the registration, discovery, verification, and long-term accessibility of scholarly, institutional, and public-interest digital resources. MDOI identifiers are independent persistent identifiers and are not DOI® identifiers issued under the DOI Foundation system.
Type or paste a known MDOI exactly, including its prefix and suffix, then submit to resolve it.
Example: 110.0014/abc.2026.00001
How it works: Each MDOI is structured as two parts: a numeric prefix (e.g. 110.0014) and a unique item suffix, joined by /.
When you prepend mdoi.org/, the identifier becomes a resolvable URL that forwards users to the current resource destination.

Everything you need to know about our service
An MDOI, meaning Metascholar Digital Object Infrastructure, is an independent persistent identifier and metadata system designed to give digital resources a stable, unique, and verifiable identity. It helps researchers, institutions, publishers, repositories, and organisations register, manage, cite, track, and preserve access to digital objects over time.
A digital object may include a journal article, thesis, dissertation, dataset, book chapter, conference paper, report, policy document, institutional record, learning material, software output, or archived digital resource.
In simple terms, an MDOI works as a permanent identity system for digital resources. Even when the original website link changes, the MDOI record can be updated so users can still find and verify the resource.
Institutions can trust MDOI because it is built around persistent identification, metadata governance, controlled registration, record updating, and long-term resource accessibility. Once an MDOI is created, the destination URL can be updated while the identifier remains the same, which helps prevent broken academic and institutional links.
Both organisations and individuals can register identifiers.
Yes. You can set visibility to Private for supported deposit types.
Developers can connect MDOI to repositories, journal systems, research portals, and institutional platforms through APIs for identifier registration, metadata submission, record updates, resolution, search, and export.
MDOI identifiers are registered and resolved by institutions and researchers spanning every continent — building a truly global knowledge infrastructure.
Register persistent identifiers, publish trusted metadata, and enable reliable resolution across your institution from day one.
