Metascholar Digital Object Infrastructure (MDOI) Foundation is an independent persistent identifier and metadata infrastructure designed to support the registration, discovery, verification, and long-term accessibility of scholarly, institutional, and public-interest digital resources. MDOI identifiers are independent persistent identifiers and are not DOI® identifiers issued under the DOI Foundation system.

How it works: Each MDOI is structured as two parts: a numeric prefix (e.g. 110.0014) and a unique item suffix, joined by /.
