Platform Terms of Service
1. Agreement to platform terms
These Platform Terms of Service govern your organisation's use of the MDOI Registry dashboard, APIs, resolution services, and related tools (collectively, the "Platform"). By creating an organisation account or continuing to use the Platform, you agree to these Terms on behalf of your institution.
2. Services provided
MDOI Foundation provides:
- Organisation account provisioning and prefix allocation
- Identifier minting, metadata management, and public resolution
- Team collaboration, notifications, and usage analytics
- Billing, invoicing, and subscription management via Paystack
- Support channels and published standards documentation
Features may evolve over time. MDOI Foundation will use reasonable efforts to avoid disruptive changes to core resolution services.
3. Account responsibilities
Your organisation is responsible for:
- Maintaining accurate institutional profile information
- Protecting administrator credentials and monitoring team access
- Ensuring deposits comply with metadata guidelines and applicable law
- Paying subscription fees when due
- Responding to compliance or support requests within a reasonable timeframe
4. Acceptable use
You may not use the Platform to:
- Register identifiers for content you do not have rights to steward
- Publish malware, spam, or deliberately deceptive metadata
- Attempt to bypass security, quotas, or billing controls
- Scrape or overload infrastructure in a manner that impairs service availability
- Misrepresent your institution's identity or affiliation
5. Fees and payment
Organisation accounts are billed monthly at the organisation plan rate published on the pricing page, converted to GHS for Paystack checkout. Fees are exclusive of applicable taxes unless stated otherwise. Chargebacks or failed payments may result in suspension until the account is brought current.
6. Intellectual property
MDOI Foundation owns the Platform software, branding, and documentation. Your organisation retains ownership of content and metadata you submit. You grant MDOI Foundation a non-exclusive licence to host, display, and resolve your registered identifiers as necessary to operate the service.
7. Availability and support
The Platform is provided on a commercially reasonable efforts basis. Scheduled maintenance will be announced when practicable. Support is available through the dashboard support centre and mdoi@academicdigital.space
8. Suspension and termination
MDOI Foundation may suspend or terminate Platform access for breach of these Terms, non-payment, or risks to ecosystem integrity. Upon termination, administrators lose dashboard access; previously published identifiers may remain resolvable to preserve persistence commitments, subject to governance review.
9. Warranties and liability
The Platform is provided "as is" without warranties of uninterrupted or error-free operation. To the maximum extent permitted by law, MDOI Foundation is not liable for indirect or consequential damages arising from Platform use. Nothing in these Terms limits liability where exclusion is prohibited by law.
10. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Ghana. Disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Ghana unless mandatory law provides otherwise.
11. Changes
We may update these Platform Terms. Organisation administrators will be notified of material changes. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
